Is Your Testimony Real? Greatest Sermon series

Influential Testimony Salty Christians – Exodus 34:25: “Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven.” – Leviticus 2:13: “with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt.” – Hebrews 7:26: “He is a High Priest who is holy, harmless, undefiled separate from sinners.”

Shining Christians – When Jesus spoke of Christians being the salt of the earth, He was talking about the “character” of the Christian. now, when He describes the Christian as being the light of the world, He is talking about their conduct. – I Peter 2:9, “ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”

John 3:19, “ And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil.” I Thessalonians 5:5, “ Ye are the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” Ephesians 5:11, “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

“In memory of John Geddie, D.D., born in Scotland, 1815, minister in Prince Edward Island seven years, missionary sent from Nova Scotia to Aneiteum for 24 years. When he landed in 1848, there were no Christians here, and when he left in 1872 there were no heathen.”

An Identifying Testimony The difference the world sees. – Martin Lloyd-Jones: “The glory of the gospel is that when the church is absolutely different from the world, she invariably attracts it. It is then that the world is made to listen to her message, though they may hate it at first.”

The Church has never impacted the world by adopting its methods, portraying its fashions, accepting its attitudes, or embracing its approval. Vance Havner: “The church has become so worldly and the world so churchy that you can’t tell the two apart.”

Churches have sacrificed the sacred for the secular. They have substituted the eternal for the earthly. They have exchanged the holy for the worldly. They have sought to please the crowd rather than Christ. They have adopted methods that are aimed at being seeker friendly rather than Savior faithful.

The Devotion the World Sees Clovis Chappell: “You may like them or dislike them, you may love them or hate them, you may fight with them or fight against them, but you cannot ignore them.”

An Ineffective Testimony Salt that is thrown out- v.13 – Mahatma Ghandi once said that he would become a Christian if it were not for other Christians. – Robert Ingersoll: “If all Christians had lived like Aunt Sarah perhaps this book would have never been written.”

Light that is turned off- v.15 – As Christians, we should neither be an embarrassment to God or embarrassed to let others know that we belong to God.

My life shall touch a dozen lives before this day is done; Leave countless marks for good or ill, ere sets the evening sun. This is the wish I always wish, the prayer I always pray: Lord, may my life help other lives it touches by the way.
