Write 24 as a percentage of 32 24 as a fraction of 32 = 24 as a decimal of 32 = 24  32 = 0.75 24 as a percentage of 32 = 0.75  100 = 75%

2 Percentages % Example 2: Tarn scores 75 out of 125 in an English test. What is her percentage mark? Step 1: Tarn’s mark as a fraction = Step 2: Tarn’s mark as a decimal = 75  125 = 0.6 Step 3: Tarn’s mark as a percentage = 0.6  100 = 60%

3 Percentages % Example 3: A cardigan is reduced from £25 to £19 in a sale. What is the percentage reduction? Cash reduction =£25 – £19 = £6 Step 1: Reduction as a fraction = Step 2: Reduction as a decimal = 6  25 = 0.24 Step 3: Reduction as a percentage = 0.24  100 = 24%
