3 CODES CODES ASCII: American Standard Code for Information Interchange – commonest code – used to send information to and from microcomputers Originally used a 7-bit code An eight bit was added, this allowed an extra 128 characters to be represented Nowadays ASCII is an 8-bit code CODING SYSTEMS
