5 Designators A 4-digit numeric code Describes the type of job an officer does. Examples: 1110 -- Surface Warfare Officer, Regular Navy 3100 -- Supply Corps Officer, Naval Reserve

6 Designators Last digit indicates officer’s status 5 = Naval Reserve 0 = Regular Navy 7 = Training Active Reserves (TAR)
