23 FACTS  Known for its production of minerals, coffee, tropical fruit, sugar cane, beans, corn and bananas, as well as for its growing textiles industry, which serves the international market.  Located at Central America.  Bordered to the west: Guatemala; southwest: El Salvador; southeast: Nicaragua; south: Pacific Ocean; north: Caribbean Sea.  Area of about 112,492 km².

24 FACTS  Population of more than 8 millions people.  Multiethnic, 4 major ethnic families: majority white or mestizos, indigenous peoples (Lenca, Miskito, Tolupanes, Chortis, Pech, Tawahkas), Garifuna and Creole English speakers.  Rugged territory, with rows of high mountains, high plateaus, deep valleys with extensive and fertile plains crossed by rivers (99.8% land, 0.2% water).

32 UNEMPLOYMENT RATE Source: Central Bank of Honduras  The new government launched the program “Better Life”, that pretends to create 25,000 jobs per year during the next 4 years.  In the first 3 months, more tan 8,400 people were inserted to the labor force.
