Technology Integration Lesson Plans Created by teachers throughout Robeson County

Grade 7 Math Lesson Plan COMPETENCY GOAL 3: The learner will understand and use properties and relationships in geometry. 3.02 Identify, define, and describe similar and congruent polygons with respect to angle measures, length of sides, and proportionality of sides. Students will work in cooperative groups to explore the properties of triangles by completing a webquest at http://coe.west.asu.edu/students/dlawton/contents.htm http://coe.west.asu.edu/students/dlawton/contents.htm Teacher Input: Facilitate student use of computer lab, technology tools, and web resources. Evaluation: Students will complete an individual and group evaluation. Students will also be evaluated based on quality of work for each of the assigned tasks within the webquest. Resources: Designated Web Resources, Digital Camera, Kids Pix (may be able to modify for use of PowerPoint)

Obj. 3.01 Identify geometrical figures Strategies/Procedures: Students will identify shapes, lines and angles using distinguishing characteristics and properties. Students will take a Geometry walk and photograph examples of each. Students will compose PowerPoint presentations to demonstrate understanding of assigned topic. Evaluation: PowerPoint presentation Materials: Camera, geometric terms, PowerPoint 3 rd Grade Math Lesson Plan

6 th Grade Math 3.03 Transform figures in the coordinate plane and describe the transformation.  Review Transformations using Power Point presentation.  Hands-on Activity:  Students will work in partners to create a Tessellation showing the different types of Transformations (translation, rotation and reflection) using the Power Point.  Students will print out their work to be presented in class. They will describe the transformations used in the Tessellation.  Homework: Students will create a Tessellation design with a regular polygon and using different colors to be used as a pattern to tile a floor.

COMPETENCY GOAL 4: The learner will understand and use graphs and data analysis. Objective 4.02 Compare and contrast different representations of the same data and discuss the effectiveness of each representation. Students (groups) will collect and display data in various representational graphs such as : bar graph, line graph, line plot, and stem and leaf graph. Each group will be assigned a specific graph. Students will artistically display graphs with all pertinent/ required information displayed. Teacher to discuss and display graphs and the importance of each graph and how information is displayed. Teacher models inappropriate graphs and how graphs can be misinterpreted. Students will group and create/ present graphs from data collected using excel. Each group will display their graphs and demonstrate/present by using Power point, if this is an appropriate/inappropriate graph for the information being displayed.

Grade 7 Math Lesson Plan COMPETENCY GOAL 3:The learner will understand and use properties and relationships in geometry. Resources: Designated Web Resources, Digital Camera, Kidspirdation (may be able to modify for use of PowerPoint or another paint program)

3.03 Identify, predict, and describe the results of transformations of plane figures. Reflections, Translations, Rotations Focus and Review: Shapes on students desks, review shapes and their ability to move. Teacher Input: Show power point presentation on tessellations. Show different shapes and movements. Define, describe and explain through PowerPoint rotations, translations, and reflections. Guided Practice: During PowerPoint guide students to pull shapes that the presentation is using. Work together to follow pattern that PowerPoint demonstrates. Independent Practice: Demonstrate a tessellation independently by using models given by the teacher. Closure/Evaluation: Review Teacher Input.

Fourth Grade Lesson Plan Objectives 4.01 Collect, organize, analyze, and display data (including line graphs and bar graphs to solve problems. 4.03 Solve problems by comparing two sets of related data. Lesson Topic: Graphing/Technology Focus/Review: Ask the students to predict what the class would say if they were asked about their favorite color. Teacher Input: Discuss Surveys and survey the students about their favorite color. Use tally marks to collect the data. Next discuss that graphs are ways that we compare information. Talk about the terms bar graphs, line graphs, and circle graphs (and examples of each) Guided Practice: Graph the results of the student survey with the students using graph paper. To integrate technology use PowerPoint to create slides defining each term with an example. Also show the students how to create a graph using excel and word. Group work: In teams have the students survey students in the school. Next they are to organize their data using a tally chart. After the tally chart students should create a bar graph, line graph, and a circle graph to display their data. Two of the graphs should be done using excel and word. Students must also create a question about their graph. Evaluation: Completion of the graphs Closure: Share the graphs from each group, Display their work
