Fianna Moe Target Grade: Kindergarten – 2nd

What is Finger Painting? An art technique that the paint is applied with the fingers, and the use of hands and lower arm. Use of the entire arm smoothes the paint on the paper prior to more detailed modeling with the fingers and other parts of the hand. The History Ruth Faison Shaw introduced finger painting as an art education. She developed her techniques in Rome, Italy, before patenting a safe non-toxic paint in 1931. After developing her expressive medium for children, Shaw devoted her attention to the therapeutic benefits of finger-painting. Material - 6 bright colors - Some use instant pudding to use as finger print to eliminate children putting their fingers in their mouths

Here are 5 examples of using finger printing. Example 1 What images did they paint using their hands and finger?

Example 2 - What are some of the finger patterns in this painting? - - Create a fish tale story about your painting.

Example 3 - What do you think is being created? - What else might you create using this same technique?

Example 4 - What do you See? - What do you think this is about?

Example 5 - What story does this tell? - Why might the Artist have painted this?
