1 Hear and see your contacts with Office Communicator Manage audio calls You’ve been receiving audio calls on your Communicator from your contacts. But to have a better call experience in initiating calls, you decide to explore the call management features. Communicator 2007 lets you manage the audio calls that you make. In this lesson, you’ll learn how. You’ll also learn how to use call controls and how to forward calls and how to cancel call handling.

2 Hear and see your contacts with Office Communicator Use call controls When you receive an audio call from a contact, the Conversation window opens. From there, you can use various call controls to manage your call. For example, when a contact calls you on Communicator 2007, you can put the call on hold or transfer the call to another person.

For example, if you receive an e-mail message from one of your contacts and call the contact directly from the message, the Conversation window that opens contains the name of the contact and the subject of the message.

Just as you are about to step out for the meeting, you receive a call alert invitation on Communicator 2007 from Wilson, a member of the media team, asking for clarifications on the ad distribution. You want to talk to Wilson, but you don’t want to keep William waiting.

5 Hear and see your contacts with Office Communicator Forward calls The solution? Forward Wilson’s call to your mobile phone so that you can talk to him while you are on your way to the meeting. Communicator 2007 offers the flexibility of forwarding audio calls to an alternate phone number, such as a mobile phone, hotel phone, or home phone. You can also forward your calls to your voice mail or to another contact.

6 Hear and see your contacts with Office Communicator Forward calls The picture shows how. 1.In the Communicator window, click the Call forwarding button located in the upper-right corner and select the Forward Calls To option. This option displays a submenu. 2.In the submenu, choose the option you want.

Communicator allows you to set or cancel call handling choices at any time. 1.In the Communicator window, click the Call forwarding button. This displays a drop-down menu. 2.Select Do Not Forward Calls. This resets your call- handling rules to the previous option that allows you to receive all calls.
