They frequently provide input to equipment selection and design. They help companies find the right products to improve the efficiency, output, and safety of manufacturing and industrial processing operations. They analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems to identify the system components and develop the design and functional specifications for the automation systems. They are responsible for the interface between the hardware and software development for the automation system. These automation professionals provide the technical support and design of interfaces to ensure that the automation system integrates with the customer’s enterprise system. They develop the functional specifications, coding strategy, logic, and control configuration structure. They develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, and oversee all configuration and documentation.
