1 Troubleshooting and Updates When you arrive on campus each morning, turn your computer on. If it is on when you arrive, restart it. Shut your computer down at the end of each day. Charge your tablet every night. Do not remove any programs installed on your Klein Tablet PC. Do not use proxies or attempt to bypass the filter system in any way. If you experience problems with your Tablet PC during the year, try restarting it. Some problems are resolved when a machine shuts down and starts again. If a problem persists after a restart, act immediately. Troubleshooting & Updates Slide 1 of 5

2 The Five Day Rule and Work Order Request As soon as you know there is something wrong with your Tablet PC, submit a work order. You MUST turn in a work order within FIVE days of the accident or malfunction. Failure to do so may result in you paying for the repair. You can turn in a work order on any computer on campus – your Tablet PC, a computer in a classroom, a library computer, etc. The Work Order Request (WOR) is an online form and requires an Internet connection. You can only access the Work Order Request System and submit a request on a Klein campus. Troubleshooting & Updates Slide 2 of 5

3 Submit Work Order Requests online on campus Links to the WOR are available in the LMS and on StudentNet. Login to the WOR with your Klein username and password (S+ID number as username; regular password when you login to a Klein computer) Troubleshooting & Updates Slide 3 of 5 s+IDnumber your regular computer login password

4 Accessing Software Center If there are times during the year when your tablet needs updates, you will find them in the Software Center. The icon is pinned next to the Windows Start button in the bottom left corner of your screen. Although many programs may be listed, not all are needed on your Tablet PC. Check with a teacher or the campus repair center staff before installing packages through Software Center. When you are instructed to install software from Software Center, be sure to close all other programs before beginning. 5 Accessing Software Center and Application Catalog Programs available for your Klein Tablet PC appear in the Available Software tab when Software Center opens. Depending on the program license, some downloads require approval and are housed in the Applications Catalog. Accessing those files will require you to log in with your regular login credentials.
