Geometry CLASSIFYING SOLIDS
2
Prisms Prisms are named for their base shape: Rectangular Prism Triangular Prism Hexagonal Prism Pentagonal Prism Octagonal Prism Trapezoidal Prism Square Prism
3
Prisms Prisms are made up of two bases and rectangular faces connecting the edges of the bases two each other.
4
Cylinders Cylinders have a circle for a base and one rectangular face curved around the circumference of the circle
5
Pyramids Pyramids are named for their bases as well Rectangular Pyramid Triangular Pyramid Hexagonal Pyramid Pentagonal Pyramid Octagonal Pyramid Square Pyramid
6
Pyramids Pyramids are made up of one base and triangles which converge at a point (vertex) opposite the base
7
Spheres and Hemispheres Spheres are shaped like a round ball A hemi-sphere is half a sphere
8
Cones Cones have a circle for a base and a curved face that converges at a vertex opposite the base
9
Geometry SURFACE AREA
10
Surface Area The surface area of a shape is defined as the sum of the areas of all the faces
11
Surface Area of A Cylinder
12
Surface Area of A Prism The surface area of a prism is found by finding the area of the bases and adding this value to the areas of the rectangular faces.
