The Mystery of Salvation in Marriage Genesis 2 (24) For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Biblical "Mystery" In the New Testament the Biblical word, "mystery," does not denote the "mystery" we interpret with the English word. This "mystery" is one that is outside the range of unassisted natural apprehension and can be made known only by Divine revelation.

The Mystery of Salvation John 3(5-8) Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again'. 8 The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

The Purpose of Salvation John 3(16-17) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, (apollymi) but have eternal life. “For God did not send the Son into the world to judge (Krino) the world, but that the world might be saved (Sozo) through Him. (apollymi) destroyed (Krinō) called out to question (Sozo) health of body soul and spirit POINT: The objective of salvation is to build up, restore, and heal from everything that would cause destruction.

Ephesians 5 (15-33) Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil. 17 So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father; 21 and be subject (hypotassō) to one another in the fear (reverence) of Christ. Hypotasso--Subject to one another. This Greek word in a non-military context was "a voluntary attitude of giving in, cooperating, assuming responsibility, and carrying a burden." In the military context it refers "to arrange [troop divisions] in a military fashion under the command of a leader".

The Mystery for the Wife Ephesians 5(22-24) Wives, be subject (hypotassō) to your own (idios) husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. Matt 21(42a) Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner… ★ Subject to your own =idios=To be peculiar to, private to, belonging only to one (to mind the business of one). Note: the headstone was used as the plumb line and squaring component that the design of the building was measured from. Point: The wife’s responsibility was to voluntarily cooperate with the values of the husband who has chosen to voluntarily cooperate with the values of the Christ, the one who came not to judge (Krino) but to save (Sozo), this pertains to both marriage and salvation.

The Mystery for the Husband Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. 28 So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourish and cherish-es it, just as Christ also does the church, Point: Paul is teaching the Church to understand the Father’s affection! He sent Jesus to the cross because of His Love and desire to wash (forgive) humanity from all the consequences of sin and to bring all into a loving relationship with God with out spot or blemish. As Jesus is to the Church, so is the husband to the wife.

The Great Mystery of Oneness Ephesians 5(30-33) Because we are members of His body. 31 FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER AND SHALL BE JOINED TO HIS WIFE, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH (Gen 2-24). 32 This mystery is great; but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects (reverences) her husband. 1. Paul is teaching about a "supernatural synchronization" that occurs when a man and woman choose to become one in marriage with the parallel reality of Salvation when one choses to be a follower of Jesus. 2. Marriage and salvation are both relational in nature. Paul understood the ultimate goal of both men and women and all believers is to be one in the love of God. (For Him and each other.) John 17 (20 -23) “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; 21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; 23 I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.

John 2(9) When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over.
