4 Hadith 01 "Actions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended. Thus, he whose migration (hijrah) was to Allah and His Messenger, his migration is to Allah and His Messenger; but he whose migration was for some worldly thing he might gain, or for a wife he might marry, his migration is to that for which he migrated." [Al-Bukhari & Muslim]

5 What is hadith?

6 Background: This hadith was said by the Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, at the time when a man emigrated from Makkah to Madinah during the Hijrah for the sake of marrying someone and not for the sake of Islam.

13 What is “shari’ah”?

14 The word "shari'ah" literally means "a way“.
In Islamic terminology, it means Islamic laws.

15 Ikhlas is one of the conditions of accepting good deeds.

26 1. To achieve sincerity (ikhlas) 2. Avoid shirk which is …
3. Associating partners with Allah swt which we do because of … 4. Self desires

27 Imam al-Harawi states that there are 7 types of self-desires
1 To make oneself appear good in the hearts of others 2 To seek the praises of others 3 To seek the glorification of others 4 To seek the wealth/money of others 5 To avoid being blamed by others 6 To seek the services or love of others 7 To seek the help of others for oneself Optional work! -Check yourself – tick if you think you have any of the above self desires

28 How to obtain Ikhlas (sincertity) (color the correct ones)
Everything you think is a good deed is a good deed Before we do good deeds we should seek knowledge so that we know what is acceptable in Shariah To wish that others praise us when we do a good deed Do righteous deeds Do not show off your good deeds Do whatever you want Check that your intention is for Allah swt

29 Example: If we go to the masjid for the salah and we are early, arriving before the Imam and finding a place in the first saff, we should not be proud of ourselves and think of ourselves being better than others. We should praise Allah for enabling us to go to the masjid and for being able to perform the salah without any difficulties. After every salah, we should tell ourselves that we could have performed it better and try to improve in our next salah.

30 Some actions that are automatically considered good without intention
seeking knowledge in Islam, helping the community, doing da'wah, etc

31 Conclusion Our actions are undermined by our intentions - whether they are good intentions or bad intentions. Therefore we should always check our intentions before we do or say anything. We must make sure that the action is for the sake of Allah so that it is accepted by Allah and that we will be rewarded for it, insha Allah. Happy Land for Islamic Teachings-Hadith 01
