1 The Three Little Pigs Mrs. German
Story Map

2 Objectives for this Performance Task:
Content: Oral Presentation, Writing, Fiction, Technology Language: speaking, organizing, discussing, writing Process: YWBAT identify all part of a literary work, analyze a literary work, reflect on what you have read, and present orally in front of others.

3 Information Page Author, publication date, location
Summary (3-5 sentences)

4 Information Page It was written by Nick Castillo in He lived in Canada when he wrote this. This story is about 3 little pigs who were running away from a big, bad wolf. They ran to different houses to get away from. Each time, the wolf blew down their house. Finally they went to a brick house, the wolf couldn’t blow it down, and they were saved.

5 Setting Analysis Where did this story take place?
Why do you think the author chose this setting? How does this setting relate to the work as a whole?

6 Setting Analysis The story takes place in a forest where the pigs live. I think the author chose this because that is where wolves live. The setting relates to the work as a whole through the space that the forest provided. It was a large forest so it allowed the pigs to build their houses and run around.

7 Character Analysis Part I
Who are the primary characters? Who are the secondary characters?

8 Character Analysis Part I
Primary Characters: The 3 Little Pigs, the Wolf

9 Character Analysis Part II
Choose 1 character and explain how they changed/grew throughout the story.

10 Character Analysis Part II
The first pig is a character that grew the most. At first he built his house of straw, but the wolf blew it down. Then he saw a house built of wood, but it was also blown down. Finally, he watched as the brick house could not be blown, so he learned that he should make his house of brick.

11 Theme What was the theme of the story?
Please use examples to prove this.

12 Theme The theme of this story is preparation.
When the wolf blew down the straw house we know he did so because the pig had not prepared his house for the attack. The 3rd pig was well prepared because since his house was made of brick, the wolf couldn’t blow it down.

13 Opinion I enjoyed this story because it taught me about preparation. I could relate to the first pig because I am not always prepared. I also think it is funny to think of pigs in houses.
