10 ANYTHING ELSE? Some of the physical activities need sensible shoes – so go prepared! Bring notebook and pen and CV if you have one There will be lots of other groups at the event – so listen to the instructions that your group leader If you are in uniform you cannot leave without a teacher You won’t need your bag or valuables – but you can take some money in case you would like to buy food and drinks

11 Have a Plan - start thinking about who you want to meet and what questions you want to ask Don’t be afraid - everyone there wants to meet you and chat about careers and opportunities Get involved - this is your chance to have a go and try out your future career Don’t just collect bags and brochures and leave them forgotten in your room. Share the information with parents and friends and they can help you get where you want to go

12 An Apprenticeship is a real job with training so you can earn while you learn and pick up nationally recognised qualifications as you go. There are three levels of Apprenticeship a young person can apply for and progress through, depending on their current skills and qualifications: Intermediate Apprenticeship (level 2); Advanced Apprenticeship (level 3); Higher Apprenticeship (level 4 or above). There are up to 20,000 vacancies across England on the Apprenticeship vacancy section of the site right now, you can also download the ‘Av Search’ app for android or i-phone. To see real apprentices in action visit www.apprentice.tvwww.apprentice.tv - there are series of sector specific films to highlight Apprenticeships in key industry sectors (e.g. IT, Finance, Creative Industries, Manufacturing, Construction, Care). 13 Traineeships prepare young people to become ‘work ready’. If you’re not quite ready for an Apprenticeship, a Traineeship could give you the work preparation training, maths and English and work experience needed to move onto an Apprenticeship, Job or other training.
