He had a terrible car accident just after his high school graduation
Ended his dreams of drag racing-accident changed views on life
Attended Modesto Junior College before enrolling in the University of Southern California film school.
As a student, he made several short films which included THX:1138, which won first place at the 1967 at the National Student Film festival.
In 1967 he was awarded a scholarship by Warner Brothers to observe the making of Finian’s Rainbow.

5. Film Career
In 1973, George Lucas formed his own company, Lucasfilm Ltd.
That same year he wrote and directed American Graffiti
1973 to 1974 he began writing the screenplay for Star Wars

George Lucas married film editor Marcia Lou Griffin on February 22, 1969
They adopted a daughter, Amanda, in 1981

Since the divorce he has adopted two more children: Katie, born in 1988, and Jett, born in 1993

Lucas had also been in a long relationship and engaged with singer Linda Ronstadt
He has now been dating Mellody Hobson, president of Ariel Capital Management since 2007
