1. Avantgarde Growth and Creation Center in Atlit A case study Based on the cost line of Northern Israel, the town of Atlit has a population of 10,000 of which 800 are adolescents in the ages of 13-18. Founded in 2007, the Avantgarde Growth and Creation Center (Avantgarde center) in Atlit was the first Avantgarde Center to be established (Two more Avantgarde Youth Centers have been established since. One in Zichron Yaacov and the other in Moshave Ztrufa). The center is open every weekday from 18:00 to 22:00 and hosts tens of adolescents every evening whom enjoy the workshops, non formal interaction with others in the coffee shop area and a listening figure (the Center’s manager, Avantgarde manager, an adult volunteer or an instructor). The Avantgarde center in Atlit is based in a former school building that has been renovated to adjust so the Avantgarde concept and needs. The first floor has an entrance hall with 4 classrooms which function as workshop classes and a small concert/events hall where special yearly events and Avantgarde youth shows take place. The second floor has a professional music room, more workshop classes, office and a Coffee Shop area which is the heart of the center. This is where youth interact with each other and with volunteers or staff on a non formal basis. Coffee, tea, coco and cookies are available free of charge.

2. Avantgarde Growth and Creation Center in Atlit A case study - Continue Based on the Avantgarde concept of providing adolescents with art based activities which are directed by professional staff with both background in arts and formal education in physiology, sociology or alike, the center provides daily workshops such as: Musical instruments lessons (guitar, drums piano), vocal lessons, D.J., Hip Hop dancing, cooking lessons, drama and band play, movement therapy and more. As one of the Avantgarde concepts is to join all community forces for the benefit of Youth in its own community, the Avantgarde center in Atlit works on a daily basis together with the council’s youth leader, soldier-teachers, local high school, Israeli Youth Scouts and several volunteers from the ages of 15-65. The Avantgarde Center in Atlit is also a stage to the different art works and shows that the youth present on different occasions throughout the year.
