2 D. Blanc STTC 15th October CERN ST-CV Present Control System Architecture Present Control System Architecture

3 D. Blanc STTC 15th October CERN ST-CV On Necessity of a Control Migration On Necessity of a Control Migration Sinec-L1 bus ECA-PCA & Mil1553 Remote Supervision Siemens Sinec-L1 is no longer supported. Production, support of the bus components have been stopped for years. Lack of spare parts. Bus-cable gets more and more breakable. The ECA & PCA structure will be in a short term eradicated from the CERN control Infrastructure Poor MMI due to a lack of Process information

4 D. Blanc STTC 15th October CERN ST-CV Layer 1: Process level Layer 2: Local process monitoring Layer 3: TCR remote supervision MIL-1553 Equipment Control Assembly SINEC L1 Process slaves: Siemens S5 Process master: Siemens S5 Siemens 3964R protocol Process Control Assembly Layer 2+: Overall process monitoring TCP-IP Ethernet Potential Constraints Potential Constraints ECA is more than a Gateway Complete Lack of Updated Documents ECAs contain some parts of application program which should have been introduced either in the master or in the local Process PLCs. The development Software used is not the current Siemens-S5 but a specific one called S5-Siclimat specially designed to perform ventilation process tasks. The master PLC handles the process information but these information are fragmented into different and not coherent blocs. Some process Information of a particular shaft are collected from another master PLC of an adjacent shaft.

5 D. Blanc STTC 15th October CERN ST-CV The objective is the substitution of the local Sinec-L1. Modification of the present Hardware and Software PLCs structure to integrate the Ethernet communication Modification of the application program of the air handling units involved in the ventilation process of the tunnel ( LHC operating mode differs from LEP) Integration of TI2, TI8 and alveoles air units The replacement of the master PLC -> PLC supervisor Preserve the Shaft to shaft information exchange process Act as a redundant way to TDS for process alarms transmission The integration of the local SCADA Station permanent way to TDS for process alarms & events transmission Process Control Migration Process Control Migration Development of new applications under PVSS2 Integration of the new Ventilation Process Database
