The weather will be changing soon. Please make sure you check the weather each day and dress your child appropriately. Every month we could use store donations. The kids like silly putty, gel slap hands, juice boxes, baseball cards, etc… Please send a healthy snack with your child each day! Fruit, veggies and dip, cheese, yogurt, etc…all make great snacks. It is very important that your child reads every day. We expect that 4 th graders are reading 100 minutes per week. Good readers read! Please have your child record his/her minutes on his log/response. Also, don’t forget that the reading response is due EVERY TUESDAY unless we say otherwise. Don’t forget to sign the response each week. Your child can turn in his/her response early on Monday if they like. PRACTICE MULTIPLICATION FACTS!! Language Arts: We are learning all about nouns over the next several weeks: common, proper, pronouns, possessive, plural, singular. Math: We are continuing to work on interpreting multiplication equations as comparisons (fact families) and using multiplication and division to make comparison, as well as prime and composite numbers. Reading: We are learning how to find the main idea, compare and contrast, and use somebody, wanted, but, so, then to summarize. Science: Your child should be able to construct an argument that plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction. The students all have Kahn Academy Accounts. They may log in at home to practice math skills. There are tutorial videos and hints to help them learn new skills. The students get “ENERGY” points for completing skills. All students also have an IXL account. Your child may log in using his/her account information in the back of his/her binder. IXL is a great place to practice skills we are currently working on such as multi-digit subtraction, multiplication, and division. If you have a twitter account, please sign up to follow our schools twitter account. @MacPride The last week in October will be Red Ribbon Week. On Friday October 31st, we will have our annual Character Parade. Start thinking about what your child will wear. They should be dressed like a character from a book. They will wear a printed book cover or handmade book cover to show who they are.
