3  On October 12 th of 1492 an expedition which leader was Colon arrived for the first time in a unknown continent, that years later was going to be called America.  Colon made four trips: The Spanish tripulation of Colon travelled several times to that continent, 1492, 1493, 1498 and 1502. In 1502 they started to colonised the continent.

9  Isaac Peral y Caballero (Cartagena, 1 June 1851 – 22 May 1895, Berlin), was a Spanish engineer, naval officer and designer of the Peral submarine.  The Peral Submarine was the first torpedo submarine invented and few years after was sold to the germans.  Nowadays is the base of the actual submarines.

14  Federico del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús García was a Spanish poet, dramatist and theatre director.  He was a self tahouhgt person since he was young.  García Lorca achieved international recognition as an emblematic member of the Generation of '27. He was executed by Nationalist forces during the Spanish Civil War  Known as the most popular author of Spanish literature.  He was executed during the civil war

18  One of Spain's most famous writers, Miguel de Cervantes created one of the world's greatest literary masterpieces, Don Quijote, in the early 1600s.  Miguel de Cervantes was born near Madrid in 1547.  He became a soldier in 1570 and was badly wounded in the Battle of Lepanto. Captured by the Turks in 1575, de Cervantes spent five years in prison.  Cervantes finally achieved literary success in his later years, publishing the first part of in 1605. He died in 1616.

21  Was a Spanish painter who was the leading artist in the court of King Philip IV and one of the most important painters of the Spanish Golden Age.  He was an individualistic artist of the contemporary Baroque period, important as a portrait artis.  Famous modern artists, including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí and Francis Bacon, have paid tribute to Velázquez by recreating several of his most famous works.

23  Also known as Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, stage designer, poet and playwright who spent most of his adult life in France.  One of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century, he is known for co- founding the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpturethe co-invention of collage, and for the wide variety of styles that he helped develop and explore.  Famous paintings: Guernica and Les Demoiselles d'Avignon

25  Sometimes called the father of modern art, Spanish artist Francisco de Goya painted royal portraits as well as more subversive works in late 1700s and early 1800s

27  Francisco de Goya was born on March 30, 1746, Spain. He began his art studies as a teenager and even spent time in Rome, Italy, to advance his skills. In 1770s, Goya began to work for Spanish royal court. He created works that criticized the social and political problems of his era.

29  Born in Spain, 1947, Paco de Lucia rose into a musical giant who blended jazz, pop and classical influences with the tradition of flamenco.  De Lucía was noted for his fast and fluent picados (fingerstyle runs). A master of contrast, he often juxtaposed picados and rasgueados (Flamenco strumming) with more sensitive playing and was known for adding abstract chords and scale tones to his compositions with jazz influences.

31  Spain is known for its good food, we have the Mediterranean diet is based on very healthy food.  Modern kitchen is famous restaurants like Celler de can Roca'and 'El Bulli' as well as traditional.  To cook in Spain is very typical use fresh products.

Spain is the only country that can boast of having three restaurants in the list of the ten best restaurants in the world. “El celler de can Roca” is in second place. ”Mugaritz” is in sixth place and “Arzak” is in eighth place.

33 El Celler de Can Roca is a restaurant in Girona, Catalonia, Spain which was opened in 1986 by the Roca brothers, Joan, Josep and Jordi. The cuisine served by the restaurant is traditional Catalan, but with twists to the extent that the Michelin Guide describes it as "creative”.
