3 What does an EVS volunteer do? 4 What are the aims of EVS? 5 Why volunteering? Volunteering is one of the most efficient instruments for non formal education. Through volunteering you acquire new knowledge, skills and competences. At the same time, being exposed to intercultural challenges and new personal experiences, you expand your horizons, learn more about yourself and grow as human beings. 7 Who can do an EVS? Every young person between 18 and 30 years living in any European Country (included Serbia!!! 8 Where can you do an EVS? From Serbia you can do an EVS in every EVS-programme-country. From Serbia you can do an EVS in every EVS-programme-country. 9 How long does an EVS last? An EVS lasts between 2 and 12 months. An EVS lasts between 2 and 12 months. Even though a year may seem a long time I (EVS-volunteer myself ) hardly recomand not to do an EVS of less than 6 months…Once you got used to a new culture and made friends in the new country a year will seem you a very short time…

10 Who pays for EVS? EVS represents Action 2 of the Youth in Action, the European Unions Youth Programme. This programme is financed by the European Commission. 11 How is EVS organized? The main parties in an EVS are: - The Sending Organisation: A local NGO in your country, that will send you as a volunteer abroad - The Hosting Organisation: The organisation where you will volunteer abroad - And you, the volunteer! These three parties sign an EVS-agreementabout all the details of the EVS-project

12 What else to tell about EVS? During your EVS you have the right to get lessons to learn the local language. (Ja na primer učim sad srpski…and kis tanulok magaryul ) The EVS-programme includes cycle of trainings to help you during your voluntary Service…

13 Pre-departure-Training Before you leave for your Host- country you participate in a „Pre- departure-training“ where you will meet with all the volunteers of Balkan countries, that will start there EVS soon. 14 On-Arrival-Training In the first weeks in your new country you will participate in the „On-arrival-Training“. You will meet EVS-volunteers from all over Europe that just as you just started their EVS. You will share impressions and learn how to handle cultural shoks and problems of integration in the new culture. 15 Mid-term-Training In the middle of your stay in the host- country you will participate in the „mid- term-Training“. A great opportunity to meet your friends from the On-arrival- Training and share the experiences you made so far. It is also time for a first evaluation of your EVS and an opportunity to think on how to improve and develop further your projects. 16 Final-Evaluation-Training You are back home and full of impressions…It is important now to take a time to reflect on your whole EVS…What did you learn during your stay in an other country? How did you change in these months abroad? How can you use your new skills back home? The Final- Evaluation-Training gives you the opportunity to reflect on this questions and to share with other volunteers of your region that just came back of their EVS.
