Keith Haring Keith Haring was born on May 4, 1958 in Reading, Pennsylvania and died on February 14th 1990 at the age of 32. He is a Famous American Artist.
Art Keith Haring had developed love for Art in a very early age. He learned basic cartooning skills from his father and popular culture around him, like Dr. Seuss and Walt Disney. After graduation from High School, he enrolled in the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh. In 1978, he had a solo exhibition of his work at the Pittsburgh Arts and Crafts Center.
Art (Continued) Later in the same year, he shifted to New York City and joined the School of Visual Arts. Haring achieved his first public attention with chalk drawings in the subways of New York. Between 1980 & 1989, Haring received international recognition, and took part in many solo exhibitions and numerous groups. In April 1986, Haring opened the Pop Shop, a retail store in Soho selling T-shirts, toys, posters, buttons and magnets featuring his images..
His Art Style and Inspiring He was inspired by the work of Jean Dubuffet, Pierre Alechinsky, William Burroughs, Brion Gysin and Robert Henri’s manifesto The Art Spirit. His art work has usually been cartoon-oriented, increasing abstract, and of action. He didn’t want to jump on a bandwagon, he feels every artist should have his own style.
Artist’s Work ‘’Best Buddies, 1990’’ FERTILITY #1, 1983 PARIS REVIEW, 1989
Appeal or Not Appeal His work may appeal to people who enjoy life, and like Art which shows happiness between humans. Keith Haring’s audience might be people who have had a sad experience in life and want to be happy again. This may not be appropriate to people who don’t like human figures in Art, and don’t like extra-ordinary creating of a human body. Since Keith Haring’s paintings have some obesity shown and some extra-ordinary faces.
My Opinion I really like his art because it shows Human Figures doing something, and it always has a moral. A few of his paintings send a clear message, that you should be ‘’Happy and Joyful’’. His paintings are full of color and some creative un-realistic stuff. I would have liked it better if he had some sketches in his Art, and some realistic Art. The best part of his art is that it always has a Moral.
