1. Attention Promoting Instructors Important Kukkiwon Promotion Information
The Dan office at USA Taekwondo provides a direct link between the United States and the Kukkiwon office in Korea. It is our goal to provide efficient processing of your students Black Belt certificates and to provide a support system with Kukkiwon. The Dan office follows all rules and regulations set forth by Kukkiwon and the World Taekwondo Federation.
Guidelines for Processing
The instructor must have a 4th Dan Kukkiwon certificate and USAT membership to process with this office.
Prior to any information being released the instructor must request a Dan Packet with the school name, address, USA Taekwondo club number, phone number and a copy of the 4th Dan certificate.
The school must be a registered USA Taekwondo Club prior to processing
Only instructors are permitted to ask for confirmations or check the status of their students.
If the student is not a member of USAT then there is a $15.00 additional cost for each application for promotion. (Effective 2006)
All applications must be typed (Effective 2006)
All applications that are submitted through this office will be considered US Citizens. The student will be promoted as a citizen of the country in which he/she trains and is promoted.
Promoting Instructor must always be one (1) level above the student being promoted.

2. Processing Guidelines Continued
Submit an application for promotion on each individual.
The instructor & student must sign each application.
All applications must include the following:
2 ID sized photos (passport size) taped (no staples)
Be typed
Have copies of previous certificates attached (required for 2nd degree and up)
Birth date on the application must be typed as: Jan 02, 2005 or 02 Jan, 2005.
Current telephone, fax number, club number & address must be on the application.
Type the name of the recommending instructor and his/her Dan certificate number under the signature line.
Acceptable forms of payment are money orders, cashiers checks, Business Checks if Certified, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. No Personal checks will be accepted.
Processing times:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Dan/Poom = weeks
5th & higher = months
Skip Dan , Correction & Replacements = months
All candidates for 6th Dan or higher must submit a 10 page written thesis about Taekwondo with their application.

The WTF Kukkiwon office has rules and regulations regarding these procedures. The USA Taekwondo Dan office requires that all instructors follow these rules. The procedures to submit a Skip Dan application are as follows:
Guidelines for Processing
Fill out an application for promotion and a Skip Dan form in its entirety.
The instructor that is submitting the application must be one Dan level above the student.
The Skip Dan form needs to be typed and filled out completely. It will require detailed justification for skipping promotions and a detailed training/teaching history with dates. Please provide as much information as possible.
Dan processing fees will increase $15.00 if the student is not a USAT member. This applies to the Skip Dan payment.
You will be required to pay for each level skipped. Example: 1st to 3rd Dan will pay for 2nd and 3rd in one form of payment.
Those who want to skip more than one rank are required to take a practical test at the Kukkiwon office in Korea. Kukkiwon will only allow each individual to apply for a Skip Dan once in their lifetime.
Make sure the time requirements have been met between each level up to the level being requested. The applications will be returned if the time requirement has not been met. There are no exceptions for minimum time.
Provide a copy of any current Kukkiwon certification. Example: If they are applying to skip from 2nd to 4th Dan, send a copy of the 1st and 2nd Dan certificate.
The individual applying for the Skip Dan promotion must already have at least 1st Dan Kukkiwon certification. The exception to this is if the instructor is applying for a skip from 0-2nd degree, then the instructor must provide any certification the student has earned.
A SKIP POOM IS NOT ALLOWED.
There is no skip to 6th Dan.
Processing time for a Skip Dan is 4-6 months.
**Note: Submitting an application for a Skip Dan does not guarantee approval from the Kukkiwon Dan Board. Our office will contact you as soon as we receive the final decision from the Kukkiwon office in Korea.

Orders of under 100 = $3.00 each
