3 3 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Product Overview The latest release of DialogClassic Web is the next generation of professional search tools provided by Dialog Key features and functionality include: –Completely browser based so there is no software to install –Type-ahead buffer enables creating and editing a search strategy before running it –Robust post-processing features allowing search results to be easily converted into other formats (XML, Microsoft® Word and Excel, HTML and PDF) –Powerful search capabilities such as support for search statements of up to 2,000 characters and stacking of multiple search statements –Full access to Dialog’s fulltext linking services through Dialog eLinks and OpenURL compliant links resolvers –Supports Chemical Structure Searching using a drawing file (MOL)

7 7 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Home Screen A “Status Bar” shows you how long you have been connected, what commands are in the queue, and how long the current command has taken to execute. A “Type Ahead” buffer lets you compose, edit and execute sophisticated queries. An “Output Buffer” gives you “scrolling” access to your entire search session.

8 8 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Databases Screen The Databases pane lets you link to the Bluesheet for any of the databases you are searching.

9 9 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Session Navigator Screen You can check a box in the Session Navigator; then click the “Send to Buffer” button to place the command in the Type Ahead buffer. The Session Navigator lets you link to search statements you have entered during your search session.

11 11 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Toolbar Functionality — Load Script Icon The “Load Script” icon lets you load saved search scripts stored on your computer. Any TEXT file can be executed as a search script.

12 12 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Toolbar Functionality — Save Icon Select the format from the drop- down list. You can choose HTML, TEXT, Microsoft® Word or Adobe® Acrobat PDF. The “Save” icon saves your output in the buffer

13 13 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Toolbar Functionality — Clear Buffer Icon The “Clear Buffer” icon lets you clear all or individual buffers, including the Output, Type Ahead and Session.

14 14 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Toolbar Functionality — Stop Icon Keep your presentations simple and clean –Use Arial for cross-platform compatibility –Do not use type smaller than 18 point –Avoid using distracting animations, transitions and sounds Only use this approved template –Copy slides from previous presentations and then apply master pages to slides using the “Slide Layout” command in the “Format” menu –Do not alter the master pages –Use “Return” to create a new bullet point –Use “Shift” + “Return” to create a new line without a bullet –Use the “Promote” and “Demote” arrows to change text levels The “Stop” icon terminates any search statement that is in the process of executing.

15 15 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Toolbar Functionality — Padlock Icon The “Padlock” icon lets you lock and unlock the Type Ahead buffer for the construction and execution of multiple line searches.

21 21 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Editor Tab The Editor Window shows all of the text you have marked during your session. You can use the editing tools to change, add and delete text.

22 22 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Editor Tab When you have completed your edits, use the Save icon to save the output in HTML, TEXT, Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat PDF. Clicking the Command Tab returns you to your search window.

23 23 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS History Tab Commands for the searches display in the Commands pane. Results are available for 30 days. From the History Tab you can see dates and times of all your search sessions in the Sessions pane.

28 28 INFORMATION SOLUTIONS Special Features — Creating and Editing Alerts Creating and Editing Alerts is managed through a form that is loaded as a separate window. All settings, databases, addresses and frequencies can be managed in this window, which appears whenever SAVE ALERT or EDIT ALERT commands are used.

Results of the TEXT and HTML commands are stored in separate windows. Links to the windows appear in the Retrieve buffer. Click a link to open the window; use the browser options to save the HTML or TEXT.

Results of the XML command are stored in a separate window. A link to the window appears in the Output buffer. Click the link to open the window; use the browser options to save the XML.
