Better Results. © Herrmann Global 2013 Personal Development Plan: At Work Personal Exercises to Help Access and Develop Your Less Preferred Modes  Analyze and solve a technical problem.  Read and understand a budget or financial report.  Calculate your salary per minute/second.  Learn a new computer program that would enhance your job performance.  Clearly define work goals for next quarter.  Learn to use a spreadsheet and develop a budget report for your department.  Conduct a statistical analysis.  Use logic in your decision making.  Use a "time log" to record your daily activities with precision.  (Re-) organize your filing system; your desk.  Create a "things-to-do" list and check off items when done.  Plan out a project in detail and follow through with it.  Arrive on time at work or for appointments all day.  Create a highly detailed job description.  Read the policy manual and keep it accessible for reference.  Be conservative and safekeeping in your decision making.  Spontaneously recognize another employee in a way that is personal and meaningful for them.  Be aware of your non-verbal communication and make it friendlier; e.g., smile, be relaxed.  Motivate others to have a fun, "people" event.  Volunteer to assist a co-worker on a company project.  Try playing a "music" radio station in the back ground while you work.  Spend at least 15 minutes per day getting to know others personally.  Make a decision using team consensus.  Set aside time for idea generation and think of at least one "crazy" idea per day.  In your "mind's eye" (with eyes closed) imagine your organization ten years from now.  Re-decorate your office; add creative toys and/or posters to the decor.  Design a "logo" for your job.  Instigate a brainstorming session on an important issue.  Illustrate a memo to a colleague.  Make a decision based on intuition.  Conceptualize a new program or product. Better Results. © Herrmann Global 2013  Predict what will happen tomorrow based on what you know about today.  Find out how a frequently used machine works.  Take a current problem situation and analyze it into its main parts.  Review a recent impulsive decision and identify its rational aspects.  Convert your retirement dreams into a quantitative formula.  Join an investment club.  Engage in some logic games.  Learn to set up and use a personal computer.  Play 'devil's advocate' in a group decision process.  Write a critical review of your favorite movie.  Assemble a model kit by the instructions.  Develop a personal budget.  Prepare a personal property list.  Jog, don't run.  Organize your CD's, videos or audio tapes  in sequence according to categories  Prepare a family tree.  Go "square dancing."  Find a mistake in your bank statement.  Organize your home and garden tools.  Be exactly on time all day.  Organize your picture files.  Play with your children the way they want to play.  "Dance" without moving your feet.  Take a 10 minute "feeling break" every morning,  afternoon, and evening.  "Love" a pine cone or any other natural thing.  Play the music you like when you want to hear it.  Allow tears to come to your eyes without feelings of shame or guilt.  Experience your own spirituality in a non-religious way.  Discover things your children have taught you; find way to thank them.  Fly a kite the way it is meant to be flown.  Invent a gourmet dish and then prepare it.  Play with clay and discover its inner meaning  Take 15 minute break before getting out of bed.  Drive to "nowhere" without feeling guilty.  Run, don't jog.  Take "500" photographs without worrying about the cost.  Create a personal logo or mandalla.  Go dancing at a local club.  Allow yourself to daydream; Imagine yourself in the year ____.
