Product History  Digital modems developed in the 1950s  Commercial Modems came into existence in the 1960s  late 1970s, modems had speeds of 300bps  300bps equivalent to 0.000286102295 Mbps  The 56K modem was invented by Dr. Brent Townshend in 1996.  Average internet speed in 1 st world countries is 40.65 Mbps

5. How a modem works  Computer needs a modem to modulate digital signals  This will travel down phone lines  They then pass through a second modem  This will demodulate the signals back to the ISP
