2. Fractions An Interactive Activity introducing thirds

3. We are going to slice our pizza into 3 equal sized pieces. Each piece is called a third.

4. 1 whole pizza has been split into 3 equal pieces We write it like this. 1 whole pizza 3 equal pieces

5. We can do this with other shapes and objects too. Each third is the same size.

6. We can do this with numbers as well 1 3 of3 =1 1 3 6 =2

7. 1 3 3=1 is the same as… Cutting these numbers in half is the same as dividing them by 2. 3:-3=1 These give us the same answer.
