Lafarge Africa Plc History Lafarge Africa Plc is a subsidiary of France-based Lafarge SA, a world leader in building materials. Listed 6th on the Nigerian Stock Exchange in terms of market capitalization and with a presence in Africa’s two largest economies Nigeria and South Africa, Lafarge Africa Plc is actively participating in the urbanization and economic growth of Africa. Lafarge’s presence in Nigeria started in 2001 with the acquisition of Blue Circle shareholding in WAPCO and AshakaCem Plc which were established in 1959 and 1974 respectively. Over the years, we have fully supported the government in the socio-economic growth of Nigeria as evident in the iconic structures that dot Nigeria’s landscape as well as the various value creating initiatives we have undertaken to create value for our stakeholders. Current Operations Today, we have operations in Africa’s two largest economies - Nigeria and South Africa. With plants in Ewekoro and Sagamu (Ogun State), Ashaka (Gombe State), UniCem (Cross Rivers State), Atlas Cement (Rivers State) and Ready-Mix Nigeria, as well as varied operations in South Africa, Lafarge Africa has a current installed cement capacity of 12mMt, which is expected to grow to 17.5mMt by 2017. This is in addition to strong positions in concrete, aggregates and fly ash. We actively participate in the urban and economic growth of Africa through our Sustainability Ambitions 2020 which include CSR and Community Development programs executed everywhere we have presence. Some of these projects are the Affordable Housing Scheme, Literacy Enhancement Project, Environmental Protection/Rehabilitation, Apprenticeship Scheme, Blockmakers Empowerment, Masons’ Training, Employee Volunteering, etc. We also make significant investments in youth empowerment programs and actively support education in Nigeria. We are known for putting our values at the forefront of the way we do business. Plans for the Future Lafarge Africa Plc leverages on its innovative expertise to provide valued added products and services solutions in the building and construction industry in Sub-Saharan Africa.
