2 Bea Hanson  Principal Deputy Director of the United States Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women (OVM)  Serves Department of Justice, Federal and State and International Governments  Served OVM since 2011  Chief Program Officer for Safe Horizon in New York City (350,000 victims annually) and joined in 1997 as Director Emergency Services  Earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Social Welfare from City University in New York  Masters in Social Work from Hunter College School of Social Work in New York  Bachelor of Art from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor

7 Possible Solutions  Raising Awareness  Educate the Latino Community  Networking  Increase survivors participation in awareness  Understand the importance of current Domestic Violence programs  Enhance understanding race differences or people of color  Culture competence; religion, traditions, language, etc…
