2 W HY I CHOOSE TO PURSUE THIS C AREER ?  The feeling of helping people is enjoyable  I want to make a positive influence in people lives  I want to be that one person who change the statement “Everyone cannot be helped”  It’s a way to give back and get involved in the community  There is always someone who needs help with their problems

3 S OCIAL WORKER J OB D ESCRIPTION  Work with various of people with problems in their life.  Provide support to help people get through their personal crisis  Act as a personal guide to clients while still maintaining a professional relationship  Work with community leaders to improve the community  Help patients get adjusted to their new situation  Come up with a plan to improve their clients bad habits

4 S OCIAL W ORKER J OB DESCRIPTION  Social workers work with different types of people such as:  young offenders  people with mental health conditions  Students who don’t attend school  drug and alcohol abusers  people with learning and physical disabilities  the homeless  the elderly

6 S OCIAL WORKER H IGH S CHOOL REQUIREMENTS  Three years of English  Two years of mathematics (including Algebra I)  Three years of social science (including U.S. history and geography; world history, culture, and geography; one semester of American government; and one semester of economics)  Two years of science (including biology and physical science)  Two years of physical education  One year of foreign language or visual and performing arts

7 S OCIAL WORKER D EGREES It is essential for a social work to receive their masters to get a job. The possible degrees you can receive are:  Bachelor’s Degree  Master’s Degree  Doctorate Degree Your Bachelor’s degree will take about four years of college. Master’s degree can take an extra two years. While your PhD, doctorate degree, will take an minimum of two more extra years after your master’s degree.

9 S OCIAL W ORKER JOB MARKET  Social worker job market is expected to grow 25% from 2010 to 2020. If a social worker work full time they are expected to work 40 hours per week. They can worker anywhere they choose such as hospitals, schools, clinics and etc.

10 S OCIAL W ORKER I NCOME POTENTIAL The average social worker pay is about 48,549 which is based on how many hours worked and what field of social work the person is involved in.
