2 FAFSA The FAFSA should be completed to determine students’ financial aid. The FAFSA will open on January 1st. You will need your parents TAX information to complete it, so prepare in advance! Resources: NACEE

3 Scholarships: two types General Scholarships: Based on extracurriculars, leadership, personal circumstances, GPA, and/or ACT Merit Based Scholarships: Based solely on ACT and GPA, usually guaranteed

Honors College Scholarships start at an ACT of 27. USA Freshman Leadership Scholarship The USA Freshman Leadership Scholarship is a $2000 per year renewable scholarship for a four-year total of $8,000. The scholarship is for incoming freshmen based on leadership and service commitments during high school. Priority will be given to students who represent economically and educationally disadvantaged groups or students who have participated in Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, Stars and Stripes or other developmental/educational programs. Applicant qualifications: 1) minimum 21 ACT composite score or minimum SAT of 980 (SAT critical reading + math) 2) minimum 3.0 high school grade point average 3) demonstrate leadership and/or service throughout high school DEADLINE: MARCH

5 Alabama State University Deadline February 15th!! This is the SMALLEST scholarship amount that they offer and it is HUGE! The Incentive Scholarship pays full tuition for a maximum of eight semesters for freshmen and a maximum of six semesters for college transfer students. Scholarships are renewable annually based on completion of 24 semester hours, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0. 16 Other HUGE ones: 1.Gates Millenium Scholarship: Pays for all of your undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral education!! Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they meet all of the following criteria: - Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American** or Hispanic American - Are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States - Have attained a cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 on an unweighted 4.0 scale or have earned a GED - Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities - Meet the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria 2. THE COCA-COLA SCHOLARS PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. -Must have a 3.0 GPA at the end of your senior year -It is not need based -Can earn up to $20,0000 per year Applications for both of these will open in August 2015.

This is not a list of every scholarship available ●If you know what school you are going to, contact your admissions counselor and ask them for help with applying to scholarships. You are not bugging them, it is their job to help you! ●Also, ask your guidance counselors for help! They have lists of small scholarships that you can apply for.
