A West Hills backyard landslide before pin piles. The pin pile applications of Pro Landscape, Inc.

A West Hills backyard landslide after pin piles. The pin pile applications of Pro Landscape, Inc.

Our Background We have over five years of pin pile driving experience. We have worked with many local engineers: – Anthony WrightCharlie LaneDoug Gless – James ImbrieSam AdettiwarTom Fowler – Craig LavielleDon KramerMichael Elia – John Cunninghamand more… We have successfully used pin piles for: – Retaining walls – Foundation footings – Hillside stabilization – Landslide remediation –(All of the above usually without any excavation required)

Our Resources We have various pneumatic hammers. –From 55 lbs. To 1,500 lbs. –Hand-held to boom mounted. –Striking energy from 22 ft. lbs. To 1,000 ft. lbs. –Pile diameters up to 6.” We have various sized heavy equipment with booms –Small trackhoes for very tight job sites. –Larger booms with long reach.

Pin Pile Wall Advantages Cost savings compared to excavated wall. Improves slope stability rather than compromising it. Decreases possibility of erosion and water siltation during construction. Environmentally friendly. Accessibility - can use a crane or hand-held hammer. Flexible, not rigid - won’t crack. Water is not trapped, supplementary drainage not required. Can be used where soil is too soft for conventional concrete footings. Can be built on tight sites where there is no room for footings.

A Typical Pin Pile Wall During construction - front view. After construction - rear view with fence on top

Detailed View Gabion wire mesh attached to galvanized pipe. Wire mesh extends to partially wrap under fill material

A Disappearing Act A pin pile wall supporting a tremendous amount of backfilled soil. That pin pile wall has disappeared under a veneer of stone.

Challenging sites

A Cost Saving Solution Pin piles driven along the inside of a failing concrete retaining wall, built on a steep slope.
