2 Hope Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us. The Scriptures give us patience and encouragement so that we can have hope. Romans 15:4 (NCV)

3 Introduction The condition of the world today is terrible.
Hope is not just ‘wishing’ but it is an absolute expectancy. Hope is faith in the future tense. It means want or expect something: to have a wish to get or do something or for something to happen. I want to share with you five (5) hopes that we can have.

4 I God’s Word gives us hope
“Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us. The Scriptures give us patience and encouragement so that we can have hope. Romans 15:4 (NCV) Red sea Water from the rock Manna Stilling of the sun Falling of the Jericho walls Jesus healing the sick and raising up the dead When we read these things from the Word of God. We get hope that God can and will fix our impossible situations too.

5 II Hope causes rejoicing
Romans 12:2 2 Do not change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect. (NCV) Romans 5:2 2 who has brought us into that blessing of God’s grace that we now enjoy. And we are happy because of the hope we have of sharing God’s glory. (NCV) Hope always causes us to rejoice. Rejoicing is the thermometer which shows our hope. If you are rejoicing, it means you have hope. If you are always sorrowful, it means that you have lost hope.

6 III Our God is the God of Hope
Romans 15:13 “13 I pray that the God who gives hope will fill you with much joy and peace while you trust in him. Then your hope will overflow by the power of the Holy Spirit. (NCV) God always brings hope into our hopeless lives. Jeremiah 29:11 says -“I say this because I know what I am planning for you, says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future. (NCV) He is not like other gods who destroy people. Our God is the God of hope.

7 IV Hope causes purity 1 John 3:1-3 1 The Father has loved us so much that we are called children of God. And we really are his children. The reason the people in the world do not know us is that they have not known him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and we have not yet been shown what we will be in the future. But we know that when Christ comes again, we will be like him, because we will see him as he really is. 3 Christ is pure, and all who have this hope in Christ keep themselves pure like Christ. (NCV) The faith that Jesus is going to come any moment motivates us to live holy lives and be prepared for His coming. If Jesus comes in my life-time, I want to serve the Lord when He comes to take me home.

8 V Jesus is our Hope 1 Timothy 1:1 “1 From Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus, by the command of God our Savior and Christ Jesus our hope. (NCV) Jesus doesn’t just give us hope; He Himself is our hope. He doesn’t just show us the way; He Himself is the way. He doesn’t just give us some truth; He Himself is the truth. He doesn’t just give us life; He Himself is the life. Circumstances may change, people may change. But Jesus never changes (Heb. 13:8). That’s why we need to have only Jesus as our hope. Jesus is our hope!

9 Conclusion I want to encourage each of you to keep your Hope up with Jesus Christ our Lord. Keep reading your Bible in order to rejoicing with the Lord. Jesus Christ is our HOPE!!
