2. “The Mission of the Salina Area United Way is to strengthen our community by improving lives through leadership, partnership and investment.”

3. PIECE During the 2014, 8 week, Summer Lunch Program we delivered 447 books with enrichment activities to preschool children and paid for 312 lunches so parents could eat with their preschooler. Books arrived in the mailboxes of over 1,200 Saline County preschoolers from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Project. Kindergarten Readiness materials were given to 10 Kindergarten Round-up events for 500 new kindergarteners. Vacation Bible Schools received 282 Kindergarten Readiness packets with books and enrichment materials.

4. Education Simmons First Bank employees assemble Kindergarten readiness packets for PIECE. The Salina Family YMCA, Salina Child Care Association, and MLKJ Child Development Center all have several of the same goals regarding early education. Their focus on school readiness skills enables children at their programs to enter Kindergarten on track developmentally, and ready to succeed.

5. Income A Circle Leader and her family wait to hear from CAPS on the topic of bullying prevention in youth. Circles of the Heartland helps members of the Salina area community and in turn they help Circles. Staff from organizations such as Ashby House, Department of Children & Families, USD 305, Churches, The Volunteer Connection, PIECE, Salina Area Technical College, the City Commission, and many more volunteer their time and services to the staff and participants of the Circles program. Partnerships with others help Circles to expand, establish committees, provide services for participants, learn, and share their mission.

6. Health Salina Family Healthcare Center collaborated with K-State Research & Extension, Salina Area United Way, and many other community agencies to ensure everyone in their service area had an opportunity to sign up for health insurance during the open enrollment period early in 2014. SFHC partners with many organizations throughout the Salina area community to ensure patients receive the best possible care. Working with Central Kansas Foundation has made it possible for a Substance Abuse Counselor to be at the clinic full-time. Partnering with Child Advocacy and Parenting Services provides free daycare services for children of OB patients enrolled in monthly prenatal classes. Collaborating with the Saline County Health Department allows a Nurse Educator to conduct prenatal classes for patients.

7. Certified Funded Partners American Red Cross - North Central Kansas Chapter A humanitarian organization, led by volunteers, which provides relief to victims of disasters and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Ashby House, Ltd. Our mission is to empower homeless families and individuals to improve self-sufficiency, self-advocacy and holistic recovery through life skills and practical application. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina, Inc. Offering meaningful and impactful relations between adults and at-risk youth who are facing adversity due to a variety of unfortunate socioeconomic or psychosocial factors. Catholic Charities of Salina, Inc. Providing adoption, counseling, emergency assistance, disaster relief, senior housing, immigration and assimilation services in Salina, Hays, Manhattan and Concordia. Central Kansas Foundation for Alcohol and Chemical Dependency Provides affordable, quality alcohol and drug prevention/treatment services including assessment, outpatient and inpatient treatment, social detoxification, continuing care, case management and prevention/education programs. Child Advocacy & Parenting Services, Inc. Provides free in-home parenting instruction, case management, family support, respite childcare, parenting classes, CASA and Child Advocacy Center services to prevent child abuse/neglect in North central Kansas. Coronado Area Council, Boy Scouts of America Providing age-specific citizenship training, character development and personal fitness programs for youth in 32 counties of North Central and Northwest Kansas. Consumer Credit Counseling Services Consumer Credit Counseling Services is a not-for-profit agency bringing hope and stability to Kansas families by offering financial solutions through education and counseling. Domestic Violence Association of Central Kansas Provides services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. We offer safe shelter, crisis counseling, court advocacy, support groups and much more.

8. Certified Funded Partners cont. Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland, Inc. Premier leadership development program for girls across 80 Kansas counties. We build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Kansas Legal Services Our mission is to provide legal assistance to low-income families in matters of civil law and refer families to services that help them obtain self-sufficiency. Martin Luther King, Jr. Child Development Center Provides early care and education for children ages two weeks to six years and prepares them developmentally and socially for Kindergarten. Salina Child Care Association, Inc. Full day, year round, early childhood care and education in a developmentally appropriate, accredited program for children aged 2 weeks - 12 years of age. Salina Family Healthcare Center (Salina Health Education Foundation) Providing primary care for uninsured, underinsured, economically disadvantaged families and providing education in family medicine for physicians wanting to practice in rural Kansas. Salina Family YMCA (Young Men’s Christian Association) The largest nonprofit provider of quality accredited childcare, youth sports and adult fitness in Saline County. The Salvation Army Soup kitchen, food, clothing, counseling, case management, utility assistance, prescriptions, eye exams, after school program, youth programs, Christmas assistance, adult programs, and Emergency Disaster Services. The Volunteer Connection (Department of Kansas Wesleyan University) Mobilizes volunteers of all ages to address community needs and enables community entities to enhance their services through utilization of volunteer resources. United Cerebral Palsy of Kansas Provides assistive technology, independent living support, advocacy, information and referral services for persons with various disabilities not just cerebral palsy.

9. Financials The Salina Area United does not solicit funds to cover the cost of obtaining donations. The cost of the campaign is a line item on the yearly budget from the amount raised for the campaign.
