2. The International School Mainfranken is a private international school located in Unterspiesheim, in the region of Franconia in Bayern, Germany.

3.  Unterspiesheim is a farming village located in between an industrial city of Schweinfurt and the academic city of Würzburg.  Unterspiesheim is representative of the Lower Franconia region, as it is a small village in the midst of fertile fields that provide many different agricultural products for Germany and the rest of Europe.  From the famous wine vineyards to the seasonal asparagus, or "spargel", and the red beet, there is all kinds of "growing" happening in this region.

4. The ISM was founded in 2006 by a group of engaged parents of the Franconian region.

5. The ISM is an international learning community. Currently the ISM has students and families from over 15 different nations in grades 1 - 10, with plans to add grades 11 - 12 in the coming years.

6. The curriculum at the ISM is inquiry based on the ideas and philosophy of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), and IB (International Baccalaureate Diploma Program).

7.  The ISM is excited about participating in the Comenius project and looks forward to collaborating with schools from France, Spain, Poland, Greece, and Great Britain.
