World’s Wildlife Fund: Take the pledge

What is WWF?  WWF (World’s Wild Life Fund) is an international organization with an aim to assist endangered wild animals such as: The Bengal Tiger, Rainforest Frogs and Whales.

What is its aim?  The sole goal of WWF is to protect wildlife around the world from illegal hunting, poaching and fur trade with the help of important people and organizations.

Did WWF make an impact?  WWF has, and still is achieving major global success.*  There is a bigger impact, but it is on the future, since future generations will enjoy looking at wild animals just as we are. * success stories at end of slideshow

What is WWF’s history?  This organization was founded in April 29 th, 1961 when a group of important executives signed a sheet named the Morges manifestoMorges manifesto  On the 11 th of September of the same year, the first WWF office opened in the town of Morges, Switzerland.  25 years later, WWF thought its name did not reflect its mission, so the name was changed to World’s Wildlife Fund For Nature (WWFFN)  But the following confusion led WWF to change its name back to WWF in 2001.

What is WWF’s history? (cont.)  In 1976 a campaign called “The Seas Must Live” was set up, then the 70’s ended with the campaign “Save The Rhino”  All that activity led WWF to find new premises, from the former mother office in Morges to a new one in Gland, where it is to this day  On its 25 th anniversary WWFFN invited leaders from the world’s 5 main religions to a 2-day retreat to the Italian town of Assisi, after which they pledged to save the world’s wildlife  In the 90’s, WWFFN Trained the local savannah people in Zambia to monitor and report on the rapidly declining population of marsh-based lechwes antelopes

Save The Rhino!!!!!

What is their logo?  WWF’s logo is Chi-Chi the female giant panda, adapted since WWF wanted a logo that broke all language barriers, so they chose Chi-Chi the panda

Can I help?  To make a REAL Effect on the world, you MUST be at least 18 years old, but you can help outside the ring by: 1. Adopting an animal from the website 2. Convince other kids in your neighborhood to make a movement to protect wild animals 3. Create a fundraising event then use the money to assist WWF 4. If you know an important person, convince them to fund WWF
