Galatians 5:22-23 Pg. 826 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

The first three qualities have to do,
The first three qualities have to do, primarily, with the impact of our relationship with God through Jesus Christ: "love, joy, peace".

The second three have to do with our
The second three have to do with our relationships and interactions with other people: "longsuffering [or "patience"], kindness, goodness".

And the final three have to do,. primarily, with our own inner state
And the final three have to do, primarily, with our own inner state of being: "faithfulness, gentleness [or "meekness"], self-control".

1 John 4:8 He who does not know love does not know God, for God is love.

John 15:11 Pg. 764 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

Peace can be defined as a state of. harmony between two parties, or
Peace can be defined as a state of harmony between two parties, or as a ending of hostility between two enemies.

We cannot have the PEACE of God without being at PEACE with God!

The New Testament describes at least. three places where we can have
The New Testament describes at least three places where we can have God’s peace: Peace with God – that’s the vertical dimension

Peace of God – this takes place internally
Peace with others – when we have peace with God and we experience the peace of God, we can then extend peace horizontally

I. Jesus Christ gives us PEACE with God – Romans 5:1
JesuCristo nos da PAZ con Dios Romanos 5:1

Romans 5:1 Pg. 798 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Colossians 1:18-20 Pg. 833 And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy.

Colossians 1:18-20 Pg. 833 19For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, 20and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross.

This is a POSITIONAL PEACE.
This is a PERSONAL PEACE.

Romans 8:1 Pg. 800 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Jesus Christ the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.

John 14:25-31 Pg. 764 "All this I have spoken while still with you. 26But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

John 14:25-31 Pg. 764 27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 14:25-31 Pg. 764 28"You heard me say, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.

John 14:25-31 Pg. 764 29I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me,

John 14:25-31 Pg. 764 31but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me. "Come now; let us leave.

What is positional peace must become personal peace.

II. Jesus Christ shows us how to live in the PEACE of GOD
II. Jesus Christ shows us how to live in the PEACE of GOD. – John 13: 1-5 JesuCristo nos muestra como vivir en la paz de Dios. – John 13:1-5

John 13:1-5 Pg. 763 It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for Him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He now showed them the full extent of His love.

John 13:1-5 Pg. 763 2The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus.

John 13:1-5 Pg. 763 3Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under His power, and that He had come from God and was returning to God;

John 13:1-5 Pg. 763 4so He got up from the meal, took off His outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around His waist.

John 13:1-5 Pg. 763 5After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

Inner peace is a gift from Jesus and comes to us as a key element of the fruit of the Spirit.

John 12:23-32 Pg. 762 Jesus replied, "The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. 24I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.

John 12:23-32 Pg. 762 25The man who loves his life will lose it, while the man who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life.

John 12:23-32 Pg. 762 26Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

John 12:23-32 Pg. 762 27"Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save me from this hour'? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. 28Father, glorify your name!" Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.

John 12:23-32 Pg. 762 29The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to Him. 30Jesus said, "This voice was for your benefit, not mine.

John 12:23-32 Pg. 762 31Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. 32But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself."

Because HE had the PEACE that God was with Him, He had the PEACE of God in Him

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 6For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness,“ made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 11For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that His life may be revealed in our mortal body. 12So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 13It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken. "With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak,

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 14because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in His presence.

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 15All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 16Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 17For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

2 Corinthians 4:5-18 Pg. 818 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

III. Jesus Christ commands we bear the fruit of PEACE. – Matthew 5:9
JesuCristo nos manda a mantener el fruto de la Paz. –Matthew 5:9

Matthew 5:9 Pg. 683 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God

We have positional peace, we are given personal peace, we are commanded to practice peace.

Christ as Savior brings peace with God; Christ as Lord brings the peace of God; Christ as King commands peace with others.

Romans 14:19 Pg. 805 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

“It very often happens that if a man loves peace in the wrong way, he succeeds in making trouble and not peace.

We may, for instance, allow a threatening and dangerous situation to develop, and our defense is that for peace’s sake we do not want to take any action.

There is many a person who thinks that he is loving peace, when in fact he is piling up trouble for the future, because he refuses to face the situation and to take the action which the situation demands.

The peace which the Bible calls blessed does not come from the evasion of issues; it comes from facing them, dealing with them, and conquering them. What this beatitude demands is not the passive acceptance of things

Because we are afraid of the trouble of doing anything about them, but the active facing of of things, and the making of peace, even when the way to peace is through struggle. “ - Barclay, W
