10 Dynamic Data-Driven Diagrams in the browser with Visio Services
Publish Visio Diagram to SharePoint Server 2010 Consumer requests updates The server returns a PNG or XAML representation of refreshed Data Graphics SharePoint® Server 2010 Consumer Consumers can navigate, refresh & access the diagram in a browser Visio Services – a new feature of SharePoint 2010 that extends the reach of diagrams considerably. In a nutshell, Visio Services lets you: View diagrams in the browser without needing Visio on your machine Refresh data-driven diagrams in the browser Integrate diagrams into SharePoint applications Let’s take a look in more detail at the features behind each of these scenarios. Viewing diagrams in the browser A Visio diagram, saved to a SharePoint document library as a Visio Web Drawing (a *.VDW file) using Visio Professional 2010 or Visio Premium 2010, can be viewed in any web browser by simply clicking on its file entry in the document library. The diagram renders in full fidelity in the browser if the person viewing the diagram has Silverlight installed on their machine or as a PNG if not; Visio Services renders seamlessly anything you can draw in Visio. Creator Create Data-driven diagram just as in Visio 2007 Database 10

14 Visio and Visio Services add unique value to Microsoft BI
Areas of Business Intelligence Self Service and Personal BI Personal and self-service business intelligence is information available or delivered to people when they need it and in the desired format. IT may integrate a self-service business intelligence platform to reduce the backlog of requests. Typically there is little or no IT involvement. BI for the community People don’t work just as individuals but in groups and teams to complete projects. Business intelligence for the community delivers information that reflects this, providing business intelligence that focuses on the ability to promote collaboration, and rapid sharing of information to drive to a common decision. Organization BI Organizational business intelligence describes a set of tools that help people align their objectives and activities with overall company goals, objectives, and metrics. It is business intelligence that helps synchronize individual efforts by using scorecards, strategy maps, and other tools that connect to corporate data.
