LEONARDO DA VINCI Leonardo da Vinci was very clever and invented lots of things. He was famous for painting the “Mona Lisa”. Where ever you go the Mona Lisa looks at you! He was born in Italy.
PIERRE RENOIR Pierre Renoir painted “The Luncheon of the Boating Party. He was from France.
VINCENT VAN GOGH Vincent Van Gogh painted “Starry, Starry Night” and “Sunflowers”. He was from Holland. He felt angry and sad and cut half of his ear off! Later he shot himself. He painted his bedroom and a café. He liked to use bright colours.
SALVADORE DALI Salvadore Dali was born in Spain in 1904. He painted strange things like bendy clocks in the sky. This is called “Surrealist” art.
ANDY WARHOL Andy Warhol did “pop art”. That is art about everyday things. He did images of things like cans of soup!
HENRI MATISSE Henri Matisse was from France. He lived in the 20 th century. When he was old he made artworks using scissors and paper, like collage.
CLAUDE MONET Claude Monet was from France. He was an “Impressionist” painter. He liked to paint flowers, especially lilies.
PABLO PICASSO Pablo Picasso came from Spain. He liked to paint using straight lines. That is called “Cubism”. He died when he was 91.
THOMAS GAINSBOROUGH Thomas Gainsborough was from England. He painted the “Blue Boy” which is very famous.
GEORGIA O’KEEFE Georgia O’Keefe liked to paint flowers like poppies. She was from America. She liked to paint the desert and things like dead rabbits!
REMBRANDT Rembrandt was from Holland. He was born in 1606. Rembrandt liked to paint portraits of people. He loved to paint and draw and he had a pet dog!
CHARLES DEMUTH Charles Demuth was from America and lived in the 20 th century. His most famous painting is called “I Saw the Figure 5 in Gold”.
