How to Witness??

For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps (1 Peter 2 : 21) Follow Christ’s Example THE MODEL

Jesus answered and said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. "I have not come to call [the] righteous, but sinners, to repentance“. (Luke 5 : 31 - 32) 1. Contact Others Sociably After these things He went out and saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, “Follow Me”. So he left all, rose up, and followed Him. (Luke 5 : 27 - 28) Face to Face Jesus broke barriersPeople mattered to Him He cared & valued them

1. Contact Others Sociably Face to Face Therefore, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John. (though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples),. He left Judea and departed again to Galilee. But He needed to go through Samaria. So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from [His] journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give Me a drink“. (John 4 : 1 -7)

The outcome will be better communication 2. Establish a Common Ground - Bridge Building Hear them - show that you care - people are not just a project to you. Use “ Sensitivity mixed with Grace”.

With the Samaritan Woman, Jesus was a life style evangelism personified Jesus approached her by making a request. 2. Establish a Common Ground - Bridge Building By talking to her, He demolished the social, religious & racial-political barriers - He accepted her Jesus made her anxious to listen

With the rich ruler: “So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one [is] good but One, [that is,] God ” (Luke 18:19) With the Pharisees: “He said to them, "Whose image and inscription [is] this?“. (Mathew 22:20) Any friendship must be a 2-way street of mutual GIVE & TAKE (help, listen, love, …. etc) 2. Establish a Common Ground - Bridge Building

Our Lord Jesus Christ was a skilful Professor at asking effective questions - He drew people out with questions and listened to their answers THEN He gently gave them His message 2. Establish a Common Ground - Bridge Building

3. Arouse Interest Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water“. The woman said to Him, "Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?. "Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?“. Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life“. The woman said to Him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw“. (John 4 : 10 - 15)

3. Arouse Interest The woman’s curiosity kindled Small things can open doors for a verbal witness Example: A good family discussion about a family in the bible

4. Get the Ball Rolling + Ask a leading question: Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink,' you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water“. The woman said to Him, "Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water?. (John 4 : 10 - 11) Are you interested in spiritual things? What do you think a real Christian is? Would you like to become a real Christian?

4. Get the Ball Rolling + Plan ahead for their answers or remarks. + Be alert for opportunities to share about our spiritual experiences. If they become your friends, they will confide in you their burdens, longings, aspirations, frustrations, emptiness …..

4. Get the Ball Rolling The Result: A wide opportunity to share experiences and talk about religion Teens Interests (Love, Relations …) Young Couples’ Interests (Family, treatment …) Families Interests (their teens problems, sickness, financial problems)

4. Get the Ball Rolling Bring up the need for God through their interests - Stimulate the conversation on spiritual matters Common Issues like the present World’s incidents can lead the conversation to God ‘s promise to give us a new life and a new purpose for life. Don’t Worry; Start, and the Holy Spirit will lead you to the interested people

5. Don’t Go Too Far Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life“. The woman said to Him, "Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw“. Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here“. The woman answered and said, "I have no husband" Jesus said to her, "You have well said, 'I have no husband,‘. "for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly“. The woman said to Him, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. (John 4 : 13 – 19) Don’t condemn people Bring up the need for God through their interests - Stimulate the conversation on spiritual matters

5. Don’t Go Too Far Our Lord gave her the story gradually so she became interested and curious and ready for more then He identified Himself to her as the long-awaited Messiah “Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am He.” (John 4 : 26) Jesus Christ also did not condemn the woman caught in adultery Sin separates from God and is destructive - Jesus Christ knows the human need for help and forgiveness

Take Care & BE MODERATE Don’t rush saying I may not get another chance - Rely on the Holy Spirit Be Genuine 5. Don’t Go Too Far

DO NOT BE a know-it-all person 1. The basic things you can agree on and build on it. 2. Ask about what do they think God is like. With a non Christian, start by: 5. Don’t Go Too Far

BOTH need your friendship, love, patience, follow up …. People who knows about Jesus but do not respond. People who lack information and don’t know how to become Christians. There are two groups of non-believers: 5. Don’t Go Too Far JUST go slowly and let the Holy Spirit lead

"Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you [Jews] say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship". Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. "You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. "God [is] Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth“. The woman said to Him, "I know that Messiah is coming" (who is called Christ). "When He comes, He will tell us all things“. Jesus said to her, "I who speak to you am [He"]. (John 4 : 20 - 26) 6. Stick with the main issue

The woman asked where she should worship BUT Jesus steered the discussion from WHERE to HOW one worships. 6. Stick with the main issue Which church should I join? Common Questions to Divert: There are hypocrites in the church There are errors in the Bible

"I who speak to you am He” (John 4 : 26) 7. Confront the Person Directly Build a Bridge THEN Confront Directly
