Play Today by Leila p. Fagg You say you love your children and are concerned they learn today? So am I –that’s why I’m providing a variety of kinds of play You’re asking me the value of blocks and other such play? Your children are solving problems; They will use that skill every day.

You’re asking what’s the value of having your children play? You’re daughter’s creating a tower, she may be a builder some day You’re saying you don’t want your son to play with dolls in that way? He’s learning to cuddle a doll He may be a father some day.

You’re questioning the interest centres; they look like listless play? You’re children are making choices; they’ll be on their own some day You’re worried your children aren’t learning and later they’ll have to pay? They’re learning a pattern for learning; for they’ll be learners always.

Who do we plan and teach your children? Through play! We have six areas that we plan for your child these include Personal, Social and Emotional Development Communication, Language and Literacy Problem Solving, Reasoning and Number Creative Development Physical Development Knowledge and Understanding of the World

How do we find out this information about your child? We observe what your child is doing, find out their likes and dislikes and plan for their next steps based on this. On parents evening you will see photographs and sticky notes in your child’s folder – this is us observing!

Can I play a part? YES! You are the most important educator in your child’s life We actively encourage you to participate in this process.

What do we want to know from you? Anything that you feel is a significant achievement. Maybe your child got dressed by themselves this morning? Maybe they recognised the number 9 at the bus stops as they walked home from school? Maybe they told you what they heard as they walked over the crunchy leaves?
