3 Vocabulary Africa - a continent that crosses the equator. It is south of Europe and is bordered by the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Antarctica - the continent that surrounds the South Pole of the Earth. Asia - a continent in the Northern Hemisphere. Asia is attached to Europe (and east of it ). Australia - a continent, an island, and a country in the Southern Hemisphere. equator - an imaginary line that divides the Earth into Northern and Southern Hemispheres. Europe - a continent in the Northern Hemisphere. Europe is attached to Asia (and west of it). North America - a continent in the Northern Hemisphere; it is north of South America. It Is bordered by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. North Pole - the point that is the farthest north on Earth. South America - a continent that is mostly in the Southern Hemisphere. It is bordered by the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. South Pole - the point that is the farthest south on Earth.

4 Objective #1 Students will develop an awareness of
the seven continents. Students will construct a model of the earth including the seven continents . Insert a picture of one of the geographic features of your country.

5 Objective #2 The students will be able to locate the
seven continents on a map. Insert a picture illustrating a season in your country.

6 Objective # 3 Students will understand the world is
made up of regions that are very different from each other in terms of climate, geography, animal life, and culture. Insert a picture of an animal and or plant found in your country.

7 Objective #4 Compare and contrast the continents
as they appear on a map and a globe.

9 Activity #1 The students will create the world.
Give balloons to students to blow up. They should tie a knot in it. Tell the students that the knot is the South Pole. Have students draw a small X at the top of the balloon with marker. Tell the students the X is the North Pole. Trace a line around the middle of the balloon to represent the equator. Give the students cut-out continents to trace on their balloons. Discuss the location of the continents using the equator as a guide. Which continents are above the equator? Which are below the equator? Which continents does the equator run through? Add key points in the history of your country to the timeline.

10 Activity #2 Create a seven continents book. Each
page has a picture of the continent. The students will write one or two sentences about what they learned. Insert a picture illustrating a custom or tradition here.

11 Activity #3 Have the students look at a world map. Let
them become familiar where each continent is located. Seven students will come to the front of the classroom to represent the continents. The rest of the class will help place the students(continents) in the correct place as if they were looking at a map. Insert a picture of the head leader of your country.

12 Activity #4 Students will learn different songs about
the continents to help them remember the seven continents. Insert a picture that illustrates some part of your country’s economy.

13 Activity #5 Students will complete their own world map.
They will label the blank seven continents. They will color the map. Insert a picture of one of the points of interest for your country.
