27 May 2014BSHC LIDAR Seminar Introduction, Thomas Dehling In Hydrographic Surveying, we often have to combine as many different users and uses as feasible. There are different demands especially in coastal areas Coverage Accuracy Object detection Depth Speed Timeliness Survey tasks

27 May 2014BSHC LIDAR Seminar Introduction, Thomas Dehling Factors: Efficient Accurate Reliable Cost effective Feasible … Depending on the survey tasks, the survey method has to be determined thoroughly. Survey methods

27 May 2014BSHC LIDAR Seminar Introduction, Thomas Dehling HOs are facing similar demands and circumstances Good co-operation, especially within the BSHC Exchange of experiences is essential Thus BSHC Conference tasked Germany to organize the seminar. Participation exceeds the boundaries of the Baltic! LIDAR is on the agenda of the Conferences at BSHC and NSHC. Baltic Sea

27 May 2014BSHC LIDAR Seminar Introduction, Thomas Dehling LIDAR is nothing new It is in use for many years in the world Earlier tests in Germany didn´t show sufficient results for the BSH Technology has advanced significantly since and that led to a comprehensive study for the use of LIDAR in the Southern Baltic Sufficient knowledge and experience of the different means of surveying for your own waters is essential to convince politicians and to develop decisions based on practicable solutions. Technical developments

27 May 2014BSHC LIDAR Seminar Introduction, Thomas Dehling France shows an excellent example with the Litto 3D project, where the different organizations responsible for geospatial data management in the coastal area on both sides of the coastline developed a joint programme for the benefit of their offices. In Germany a co-operation of coastal or environmental protecion agencies, water- and shipping administration, BSH and others is in place. But I still see a lot of potential for further improvement. Co-operation is one of the main prerequisites to fulfill our tasks as the providers of basic geospatial data. Co-operation

27 May 2014BSHC LIDAR Seminar Introduction, Thomas Dehling This seminar combines the industrial contribution from AHAB, Fugro and Riegl with the discussion among the users about their experiences. I am confident that this will lead to a better understanding of the needs of HOs in our region and the prospects of this developing technology. I am furthermore sure that it will enhance the co-operation and the exchange of knowledge in the future. BSHC LIDAR Seminar
