2 Jobs during Colonial Times The job I chose to research is Milliner. Three tools you need are, a needle, thread, and fabric. The purpose of a milliner is to cloth people. In a typical work day, while looking at the latest goods, ladies enjoy a cup of tea. Some literature and music of colonial times are military marches, fiddle tunes, and songs to the musical stage. Some crafts and games of colonial time are rolling hoops, walking on stilts, and ninepines.

3 Family Life If you were poor, you would live in a dugout house; if you were middle, you would in a 1 or 2 two room house; and if you were rich, you would live in the south, some had mansions Some furnishings were a chair, bed, and cabinets. Women wore a hoop petticoat, a shift, a lace apron, a silk petticoat, a lace cap, shoes, a hat, a gown, stomacher, a stay, stockings, and a lace neck kerchief. Men would wear a shirt, shoes, wig, hat, coat, cane, breeches, stockings, and a silk carvet. Sewing was important to a young ladies education. Some food items are Shepard's Pie, Gingerbread and Holiday Wassail.

4 Founding Fathers John Adams John Adams was elected by his respective colonial assemblies. Benjamin Franklin created electricity. Alexander Hamilton was the first United States Secretary of Treasury. Benjamin Franklin John Jay was the firs chief of justice of the United States. Alexander Hamilton John Jay

5 What colonies were parts of each? New England Economy... Largely dependant on the ocean. Fishing was important. Region... The Colonies were denominate by the Puritans. Middle Colonies Economy... Enjoyed a successful and diverse economy. Region... Varied as no single religion seemed to dominate the entire region. Southern Colonies Economy... Rice, Indigo, Tobacco, and cotton are cash crops. Region... Most people in the southern colonies were Anglican ( Baptist or Presbyterian ).

6 Slavery Why did this practice come to America? The rich did not want to work so they got slaves to do it for them. Which region became most dependant upon it? Southern Colonies.

7 What colonies were parts of each? New England Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rohde Island. Middle Colonies New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. Southern Colonies Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
