11 6. A coach company uses 53-seater coaches to transport passengers between Heathrow and Gatwick airports. How many coaches would be needed to transport 4 862 passengers?

12 7. In one week a shopkeeper sold 451 DVD players for £36 each. What is the total amount of money the shopkeeper received for the DVD players?

14 PAVINGSTONES 40cm 6m 2m Mr Williams wants to surround the grassed area of his garden as shown below, with 40cm square paving slabs, in order to make a rectangular border. (a) How many paving stones will he need? (b) The paving stones come in packs of 5 at the price shown. (i) How many packs will he need? (ii) What will the cost be? 5 pack £22.50 (a) Number needed = 5 + 5 + 15 + 15 + 4 (for corners) = 44 (b) (i) Number of packs needed = 44/5 = 8.8  9 packs (ii) Cost = 9 x £22.50 = £202.50
