4 Understanding culture
When we talk about culture, the first thing that comes into our minds is food and clothing. However, that’s not the only thing culture is about. It is basically your lifestyle and how you perform in public, which differs from country to country. Every country is different in their own ways. However, when it comes to Islamic culture, many countries tend to be fairly similar at the same time as well. Whether it’s the food, clothing, or even the lifestyle, Islamic culture is what binds it all together in one way or another.

Pakistan The national dress of Pakistan is Shalwar Kameez. Shalwars are basically loose pants which are designed in many different ways. A drawstring helps make it tight from the waist. Men and women both wear the same attire, but obviously, with different designs, colors etc. Clothing

Egyptian The poor/working women wear a gallebaya hen outside but when they’re in the city, gallibaya was usually only worn when indoors. When in public, an egpytian woman would wear a wide dress which was called tob sebleh. Clothing

Indonesia Indonesian women wear something called a kebaya for formal occasions. It is known to be a beautiful, figure-hugging embroidered blouse worn with a batik sarong, which also helps them cover up their whole body at the same time. Clothing

The ancient Egyptian architecture was mainly characterized by the use of stones. At that time, lime stones and granite were extremely expensive. They brought the granite from the stone quarries o the south of Egypt. One of the important parts was the planning, something they focused on a lot, for example the ground plans and layouts which were very carefully prepared by the sribes. Ancient Egpytians were into a lot of Architectural things, hence the The Great Pyramid of Giza, the Sphinx, the Luxor Temple Complex, the Temple Complex of Karnak and the Temple of Horus. Pakistan Because at least 95 percent of the Pakistani population is Muslim, there are two food customs that are followed almost universally. One is that Muslims do not eat pork (therefore beef, chicken, lamb, and fish are the basic foods), and the other is that during the month of Ramadan, fasting is a daily activity. Food

Indonesia Indonesia has the largest Muslim populations in the world. The country has about 250 million populations consisting of different tribes and cultures. There are about 583 languages and dialects spoken in Indonesia.

11 What is Islamic culture?
Islamic Culture represents the traditions and customs which evolve from the day-to-day practice of people following the authentic teachings of Islam. (Bilal Phillips) It does not bound to any particular race, colour, or background. It necessary to differentiate between Islamic Culture and Muslim Culture. Islamic culture is based on the Islamic teachings. Islamic culture based on morality and simplicity.

Sources of Islamic Culture are the Qur’an and Hadith (the sayings of the Prophet (SAW) Cultural examples from the Qur’an. Cultural examples from Hadith.

13 Islam and cultural diversity
Islam acknowledges diversity in people’s culture, languages, foods, dresses as not only legitimate but sign of Allah’s bounties. Islam accepts aspects of culture that are in accordance to Islam and disapproves that are not. No culture may therefore be completely regarded as Islamic or non-Islamic.
