RadioCom TM Wireless Intercom Products

RadioCom TM RF Basics Transmitters and Receivers Intermodulation - Intermod Interference RadioCom TM Products Frequency Information New Products (BTR-1, TR-1, ACS-101 and FM-1) Current Products (BTR-800, BTR-700 and TR-825) Accessories

RadioCom TM A basic RF system is made up of a transmitter and a receiver The Transmitter: Takes the source information in (audio, data, etc…) Modulates (encodes) the RF wave with the information. Delivers the RF wave (signal) to the transmit (TX) antenna. The Receiver: Gathers in the RF wave (signal) from the receive (RX) antenna. Demodulates (decodes) the RF wave with the information. Outputs a copy of the original source information. RF Basics

RadioCom TM A Basic Wireless Intercom System (4 to 1) RF Basics

RadioCom TM += 1 Tx + 4 Rx = BTR-800, BTR-700, BTR-300 RF Basics

RadioCom TM A Basic Wireless Intercom System RF Basics

RadioCom TM += or 1 Tx + 1 Rx = BTR-1, BTR-600, BTR-500 and ALL TR’s RF Basics

RF Basics - Intermod Intermodulation – Intermod (What is it?) When two or more transmitter frequencies combine together to create additional frequencies Generally, NEED AT LEAST TWO TRANSMIT SIGNALS close to each other RadioCom TM

RF Basics - Intermod RadioCom TM Order Formulas 3 rd (f 1 + f 2 - f 3 ) = f 4 5 th (3 f 1 + f 2 - f 3 ) = f 4 5 th (2 f 1 + f 2 -2 f 3 ) = f 4 7 th (2 f 1 +2 f 2 -3 f 3 ) = f 4 7 th (3 f 1 + f 2 -3 f 3 ) = f 4 7 th (4 f 1 -2 f 2 - f 3 ) = f 4 HUH??!!

How to avoid Intermod 1.Pick frequencies that are known to work in the presence of each other. (Telex) 2.Choose equipment with well designed receivers and transmitters with appropriate filtering. (Telex) 3.Manage the positioning of ALL equipment (Base Stations, Beltpacks and Antennas within the system to optimize operational potential. (Telex) RadioCom TM

Outside Interference –TV stations, emergency radio, electronic devices, other radio stage equipment, and thousands of other things can all contribute to interference issues. RadioCom TM RF Basics - Interference

Channel 29 Analog Channel 32 Digital RadioCom TM RF Basics - Interference Wireless intercom and wireless microphones generally work by hiding in the “valleys” of the analog TV signal. Digital TV (DTV) signals use the entire TV bandwidth allocation and do not have “valleys” to hide in.

SOLUTION…… The only way to deal with Digital TV is to move where they aren’t! RadioCom TM has the solution regardless of the system selected. Frequency coordination is CRITICAL! RadioCom TM RF Basics - Interference

RF Basics - Frequency Coordination Frequency Coordination A system that has had frequencies coordinated will keep the number of returns, re-crystalings, and tech support calls to a minimum. Telex can assist in proper frequency selection. Before you call gather the following info: 1.Physical address (INCLUDING ZIP CODE) where the system will be used. 2.The frequencies of any additional wireless units (microphones, intercom, etc…) that may be used in conjunction with the new equipment.
