36. متتالية فيبوناتشي تتألف متتالية فيبوناتشي من الأرقام التالية: 1، 1، 2، 3، 5، 8، 13، 21، 34، 55،... ونعرِّف متتالية فيبوناتشي، في شكل مبسَّط، بأنها متتالية الأرقام التي ينتج كلُّ رقم فيها عن مجموع الرقمين السابقين له، والتي حداها الأولان يساويان الواحد،

The total length a+b is to the longer segment a as a is to the shorter segment b النسبة الذهبية Golden Ratio، وهي نسبة تبلغ 61 ،1 والمستطيل الذهبي الذي ينتج النسبة الذهبية هو عبارة عن مستطيل مكون من مربع ومستطيل آخر صغير. ولكن المستطيل الصغير والكبير متماثلان، بمعنى ان النسبة بين أضلاعهما متشابهة، وبكلمات أخرى ان ناتج قسمة الضلع الكبير للمستطيل الصغير على ضلعه الآخر تساوي تماما ناتج القسمة للضلع الكبير للمستطيل الكبير على ضلعه الآخر.

39. يمكن رؤية الشكل اللولبي بمثل هذا التناسب في أشياء كثيرة في الطبيعة مثل القواقع، والحلزونات، والصدف البحري، وترتيب البذور في بعض النباتات الزهرية. كما أن المخاريط الصنوبرية تشكِّل حلزونين يلتفان يساراً ويميناً وفق متتالية أعداد فيبوناتشي، أيضاً في الأناناس 5 حلزونات مباشرة و8 معاكسة، وفي زهرة اللؤلؤ والبابونج 21 و34، وفي عبَّاد الشمس 34 و55، ويمكن أن تصل فيها إلى 55 و89.
