2 Data Sharing in GEO Post-2015: Initial thoughts by the DSWG Data Sharing remains a fundamental GEO activity Expand the usability of Open Data shared through GEOSS, provide value to users Link GEO Data Sharing activities with other organizations and initiatives dealing with open data Align issues related to Data Sharing & Data Management Future governance structure to advance Data Sharing: two options under discussion: Continuation of DSWG or merge DSWG and DMP-TF

3 Whatever the governance will be, the current DSWG discussed need for following activities: –Promote open data sharing –Monitor data policy "readiness" and data availability –Analyse impact / benefits > dissemination, advocacy Mapping of Data Sets and Policy/Legal Regimes Analysis of socio-economic benefits of OA data sharing Analysis of data policy and data sharing in relation to the upcoming SDGs / SBAs –Report including through barometer style reports –Continued interest in expanding national coordination mechanisms > feedback to GEO (requirements) –Refine data sharing implementation guidelines (e.g. on legal interoperability)
