3 Leadership Development for Current Chairs and Deans in SEM Help chairs learn the “people” part of the job – evaluation, recruitment, conflict management, etc. Educate leaders about issues affecting women

4 Diversity and the Bottom Line Catalyst study connecting gender diversity and financial performance for 353 Fortune 500 companies (5 industries) Companies with highest representation of women on their top management teams had: 35.1% higher Return on Equity 34% higher Total Return to Shareholders

5 UW College of Engineering Five of the top 12 grant-winners in FY2003 and 2004 in the College of Engineering were women But women are only 16% of the UW COE faculty

6 Workshop Structure Quarterly Half-day, with lunch Department Chair PLUS Emerging Leader Chair-led case studies Science and Engineering departments – cross college boundaries
